The objectives of the Act are to provide a framework for industrial relations in Queensland with due regard to technological change and socio-economic circumstances, to provide for dispute settlement through conciliation and arbitration, to ensure observance of collective agreements and the decisions of the tribunal constituted under the Act, and to promote the establishment of workers' and employers' organisations and the democratic and efficient operation of such organisations. Repeals the Industrial Conciliation and Arbitration Act of 1961 and subsequent amendments thereto as well as the Wages Act of 1918 and ss. 43, 44 and 50 and Part IV of the Factories and Shops Act 1960-1988.
