BW Jobs 4 Graduates (Botswana Jobs for Graduates)

Description

BW Jobs 4 Graduates is a youth-led non-profit organisation advocating for youth employment, with a specific focus on unemployed graduates - whether local or migrant. The organisation, founded in 2012, initially began as a Facebook group. It is now registered at the Botswana Ministry of Labour and Home Affairs (MLHA) under the Societies Act and is affiliated with the Botswana National Youth Council (BNYC). Its main objective is to design solutions to youth unemployment in Botswana. The organisation recognises the need for joint cooperation with Government, parastatals and various stakeholders in this effort. In 2013, it organised a series of community sensitisation workshops on youth migration and development. These attracted young migrants from across Southern Africa, including Lesotho, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Namibia. BW Jobs 4 Graduates was among the finalists for the ILO's Youth Employment Video Contest on youth labour migration 'Reaping the benefits, minimizing the risks'. The organisation was subsequently invited to participate in a September 2013 roundtable discussion at the UN headquarters in New York on 'Innovations in Labour Migration Governance and Development Outcomes'. BW Jobs 4 Graduates has been well received across Botswana. Through its various platforms (social media, SMS communications etc.), the organisation interacts with over 200,000 young people on a daily basis.
