Description

While migrant health care workers from developing countries significantly contribute to the healthcare sectors of developed countries, the migration of professionals and skilled workers is perceived to weaken the quality of healthcare services in countries of origin. As part of the European Union-funded 'Decent Work Across Borders' (DWAB) project, the ILO partnered with the Philippines Department of Health (DoH) to improve the visibility of local employment opportunities for health professionals in the public and private sectors. Local employment opportunities were perceived to be sporadic and information about vacant positions could only be accessed through individual hospitals or health facilities. ILO-DWAB and the DoH therefore set out to improve the Health Human Resource Development Bureau's existing 'E-Jobs for Health' web portal, in order to make it more dynamic and responsive to the target end users. The revised portal captures applicant and employer data, allows for job posting and matching, and generates printed forms/reports that facilitate the DoH recruitment and selection process. In order to enable data sharing with the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), the enhanced E-Jobs portal has been linked to the broader DOLE PHIL-JobNet job-matching site. The E-Jobs for Health portal is available at: http://ejobs.doh.gov.ph/ejobs/.
