Summary / Citation: The functions of the OSH Committee are as follows:
a) Participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of OSH policy and OSH Management Programme of the company.
b) Promote initiatives regarding effective risk prevention procedures and can collaborate in correcting deficiencies.
c) Investigate the reasons for occupational accidents and diseases, offering the necessary security measures to prevent their recurrence; in case that the employer does not meet the recommendations of the Committee, any interested party may inform the General Directorate of Social Welfare, who must solve the dispute through the practice of an inspection in the workplace.
d) Suggest to the employer the adoption of preventive measures; these may be written proposals.
e) Train workers on the risks of the workplace, noting unsafe actions and recommending ways to overcome them.
f) Inspect periodically workplaces in order to detect the unsafe physical and mechanical factors able to produce accidents and recommend technical corrective measures.
g) Monitor the implementation of this law, its regulations, safety standards and issue recommendations.
h) Develop its Internal Regulations, not later than sixty days after the establishment of the Committee..
