EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its aerosol, through the skin and by ingestion.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance may cause effects on the blood. This may result in bleeding. The effects may be delayed. Medical observation is indicated. See Notes. Exposure could cause death.

Inhalation risk
A harmful concentration of airborne particles can be reached quickly on spraying or when dispersed, especially if powdered.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
The substance may have effects on the blood. This may result in bleeding. Causes toxicity to human reproduction or development.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS
TLV: (inhalable fraction): 0.01 mg/m3, as TWA; (skin).
MAK: 0.02 mg/m3, 0.0016 ppm; peak limitation category: II(8); skin absorption (H); pregnancy risk group: B

ENVIRONMENT
The substance is harmful to aquatic organisms. This substance may be hazardous to the environment. Special attention should be given to mammals. This substance does enter the environment under normal use. Great care, however, should be taken to avoid any additional release, for example through inappropriate disposal.

NOTES
Warfarin is usually available commercially as the water soluble sodium salt (CAS 129-06-6). The physical properties above refer to the parent substance.
The symptoms of bleeding do not become manifest after one or two days.
Specific treatment is necessary in case of poisoning with this substance; the appropriate means with instructions must be available.
Do NOT take working clothes home.
