  ACUTE HAZARDS PREVENTION FIRE FIGHTING
FIRE & EXPLOSION Flammable.  Above 37°C explosive vapour/air mixtures may be formed.  NO open flames, NO sparks and NO smoking.  Above 37°C use a closed system, ventilation and explosion-proof electrical equipment. Prevent build-up of electrostatic charges (e.g., by grounding).  Use powder, foam, carbon dioxide.  In case of fire: keep drums, etc., cool by spraying with water.

 PREVENT GENERATION OF MISTS!
  SYMPTOMS PREVENTION FIRST AID
Inhalation Cough. Sore throat. Dizziness. Headache. Confusion. Drowsiness. Unconsciousness.  Use ventilation.  Fresh air, rest. Artificial respiration may be needed. Refer immediately for medical attention.
Skin Dry skin. Redness.  Protective gloves. Protective clothing.  Remove contaminated clothes. Rinse and then wash skin with water and soap. Seek medical attention if you feel unwell.
Eyes Redness.  Wear safety goggles.  First rinse with plenty of water for several minutes (remove contact lenses if easily possible), then refer for medical attention.
Ingestion Aspiration hazard! Nausea. Vomiting. Diarrhoea.  Do not eat, drink, or smoke during work.  Rinse mouth. Rest. Do NOT induce vomiting. Refer immediately for medical attention.

SPILLAGE DISPOSAL CLASSIFICATION & LABELLING
Personal protection: self-contained breathing apparatus. Collect leaking and spilled liquid in sealable containers as far as possible. Absorb remaining liquid in sand or inert absorbent. Then store and dispose of according to local regulations. Do NOT let this chemical enter the environment.

EXPOSURE & HEALTH EFFECTS

Routes of exposure
The substance can be absorbed into the body by inhalation of its vapour, by ingestion and through the skin.

Effects of short-term exposure
The substance is irritating to the skin and respiratory tract. If this liquid is swallowed, aspiration into the lungs may result in chemical pneumonitis. The substance may cause effects on the central nervous system. This may result in lowering of consciousness.

Inhalation risk
No indication can be given about the rate at which a harmful concentration of this substance in the air is reached on evaporation at 20°C.

Effects of long-term or repeated exposure
The substance defats the skin, which may cause dryness or cracking.

OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS
TLV: (as total hydrocarbon vapour): 200 mg/m3, as TWA; (skin); A3 (confirmed animal carcinogen with unknown relevance to humans).
MAK: (vapour): 350 mg/m3, 50 ppm; peak limitation category: II(2); pregnancy risk group: C; carcinogen category: 3.
MAK: (aerosol, respirable fraction): 5 mg/m3; peak limitation category: II(4); pregnancy risk group: C; carcinogen category: 3

ENVIRONMENT
The substance is harmful to aquatic organisms.

NOTES
Physical properties vary, depending on the composition.
Ingestion of kerosene (lamp oil) is a major cause of accidental poisoning in children.
