This circular deals in particular with the following points: maximum amount of dust (by ton of cast iron) permitted in the gases emanating from cupola furnaces and emitted during other operations (cast iron tapping, cleaning of casting moulds, etc.), characteristics of the chimney, condition of the scrap metal placed in the cupola, degree of cleanliness of the plant, inspection of air-cleaning plant, other inspections, settling of waste water.

This circular makes provisions to control the environmental pollution from these plants and deals in particular with the following points: dust levels in gases emitted, incidents arising in the course of dust removal, related operations (teeming), height of chimneys, gas emission velocity, carbon monoxide combustion, dust control and analysis, determination of dust concentrations in the environment, recording of dust data in a log book.
