CIS 73-652 An Act to make provision with respect to the erection and use of scaffolding and for other purposes (Scaffolding Act 1971)
This act stipulates that scaffolds should be erected when work cannot be done safety from the ground or from a solid construction, that a permit must be obtained before a scaffold is erected, that the scaffolding must be suitably maintained and that employers must ensure that their employees use the scaffolding.

This Decree applies to all underground work, except for those in mines and quarries, the digging of normal water wells, the building of underground structures that are part of a building and the digging of foundations. Contents: excavation and reinforcement work; falsework; special standards for wells and underground galleries; transport in galleries; ventilation and regulation of internal temperatures; channelling of water; use of explosives; dust control; lighting; digging in fire-damp containing atmosphere; welfare facilities; health services; rescue services; penalties.

CIS 88-1416 Factories Ordinance No.45 of 1942 [Sri Lanka]
Ordinance reprinted from Vol.V of the Revised Edition of the Legislative Enactments of Ceylon (1956). It covers: general provisions relating to workers' health, safety and welfare; special provisions (removal of dusts and fumes; meals in certain dangerous trades; eye protection in certain processes; shuttle threading by mouth suction; prohibition of the use of white phosphorus in the manufacture of matches; underground rooms; laundries; lifting of excess weights); notification of occupational accidents and diseases; employment of women and young persons; special applications (electrical stations; institutions; harbour facilities and ships; construction work; home work). Administrative and legal provisions are also given in detail. The Ordinance was originally enacted by the colonial government of Ceylon in 1942, and was subsequently amended by Ordinance No.22 of 1946. It came into force on 1 Jan. 1950.
