The document includes: definitions of personal and non-personal monitoring and dose/exposure recording; rationale for monitoring; a policy statement outlining the conditions and duties of licensees with respect to limiting exposure.

These regulations provide manufacturers with minimum required specifications for the design, construction and functioning of video display terminals, X-ray equipment, laser scanners, electron microscopes, ultrasound therapy devices and several other radiation emitting devices. Standards, maximum radiation emissions and labelling requirements are specified for each type of device.
