Título Effect of electronic performance monitoring on job design and worker stress: Review of the literature and conceptual model
Información bibliográfica Sep. 1993, Vol.35, No.3, p.385-395. Illus. 33 ref.
Resumen Electronic monitoring of worker performance (for example, the counting of keystrokes performed by clerical staff) can contribute to occupational stress both directly and indirectly, via job design. It is proposed that monitoring systems be evaluated in terms of the nature of the information gathered, the method for gathering it and the use to which it will be put, and that their effects on job design be analyzed in terms of demands on the worker, worker control over the job and the social support that the worker enjoys in the workplace. Published studies are discussed within this framework.
