Título Influencing behaviour: a framework for action
Información bibliográfica Mar. 1991, No.6, p.23-38. Illus. 30 ref.
Resumen The paper provides a framework for addressing the important issue of changing workplace behaviour towards risk, using personal protective equipment (PPE) as an example. Three theoretical frameworks are reviewed as a basis for systematic data collection - a general expectancy model for behaviour, the widely-used health belief model and the behaviour in the face of danger model. Within an action context, 3 case studies of successful behaviour change in respect of PPE use are discussed. These studies illustrate the importance of a comprehensive long-term programme for behaviour change, the effectiveness of active employee invlovement in behaviour change and the significant impact of direct feedback on behaviour change. These strands are drawn together in a suggested long-term programme for influencing attitudes and behaviour towards risk within a human factors context.
