| Resumen |
The numbers of accidents (233,689) and fatalities (433) recorded in Yugoslavia in 1988 were lower than in 1987 (273,449 and 524, respectively), whereas the number of cases of work-related disease increased from 3388 in 1987 to 5158 in 1988. Since 1984, the trend in all 3 statistics has been downward. In 1988, 5,289,833 workdays were lost; the figure for 1987 was 6,099,044. Workers' organisations invested more in occupational safety than in previous years, and the qualifications of those workers responsible for workplace safety were improved. These figures are broken down by republic and autonomous province for 1987 and 1988. The activities of inspectors and their findings are also presented. |
