| Resumen |
Epidemiologic study based on death certificates of 951 white male Maryland (USA) residents who died of brain tumour in the period 1969-1982. Compared with the controls, the men employed in electricity-related occupations were found to experience a significantly higher proportion of primary brain tumours. An increase in the odd's ratio for brain tumours was found to be positively related to electromagnetic field (EMF) exposure levels. Furthermore, the mean age at death was found to be significantly younger among cases in the presumed high EMF exposure group. These findings suggest that EMF exposure may be associated with the pathogenesis of brain tumours, particularly in the promoting stage. |
