| Resumen |
An introduction on the vulnerability of the skin to hot liquids and on the degrees of burn is followed by sections on prevention (use of protective equipment and clothing, checking for the presence of dangerous substances before repairing pipes and vessels, securing pipe ends with blanks, locking valves in the safe position, etc.), personal protective equipment and first aid measures (rapid cooling of victim with water at room temperature, local cooling of burns, flushing of eyes at weak water pressure, emergency treatment to prevent shock). |
