Título Rotary printers - changing their working conditions
Título original Les rotativistes - Changer les conditions de travail [en francés]
Información bibliográfica Agence nationale pour l'amélioration des conditions de travail, 7 bd Romain-Rolland, 92128 Montrouge, France, 1982. 344p. Illus.
Resumen This publication was written by researchers and edited by members of printers' unions. It presents the results of an ergonomic study conducted between 1977 and 1980 on the relationships between working conditions, state of health and mortality of workers at various daily newspapers. Although applied to rotary printers in this particular case, this type of study may be useful to workers in other trades. Chapters: I - opinions of rotary printers on their working conditions and the consequences of those conditions; state of health of the printers (sleeping and eating patterns, major health problems observed); II - evaluation of the number of deaths during active life and in retirement; III - specific features of the working environment (noise, vibration, dust and pollutants, physical workload and posture, temperature and ventilation, lighting and vision, windowless rooms) and ways of determining their consequences; IV - suggestions for improving working conditions (in the shop as a whole and at individual workstations).
