| Resumen |
Report on tests and measurements of static electricity charges accumulated on plastic transmission and conveyor belts: method used for measuring the electric field, test equipment and test conditions, test methods and results. The authors show the influence of peripheral speed, tension exerted by the shafts and local atmospheric humidity on the electric field, and draw the conclusion that the long-term static electrical charge should not give rise to apprehension, as the intensity of the electric field remains constant, and even diminishes, when the machinery is kept running for a long time. They stress the fact, however, that the belts tested were manufactured by the same firm, and that tests on other belts might give quite different results. |
