| Resumen |
Description of a device developed by the author to prevent spinning of loads lifted by crane, due to wind load. The author gives the reasons why bulky loads have a tendency to spin, and develops the idea of applying a reacting torque to the spinning torque caused by the wind. This idea can be put into practice by equipping a crane (overhead travelling crane or jib crane) with 2-rope pulley block for the hood; the block is provided with a hydraulic servo-system that brakes any unwanted spinning movements. The triggering of the servo-system may be controlled by a mechanical device sensing the rope speed. The device is an autonomous unit adaptable to any existing crane. |
