Resumen Progress in printing technology has permitted lead to be replaced by photopolymer resins, which allow production of printing plates that can be used either in conventional rotary presses or the offset process. Adoption of the method in the printing shop of a large newspaper caused several cases of skin disorder among printing workers, in the form of bullous dermatitis, which are described, within two weeks. Allergological studies involved visiting the workshops, chemical identification of the resin responsible (tetraethylene glycol diacrylate), and experimental reproduction of the lesions. Use of tetraethylene glycol dimethacrylate obviated these effects, as a study based on 300 allergy tests proved.
