Título Human pesticide poisonings by a fat-soluble organophosphate insecticide.
Información bibliográfica Dec. 1975, Vol.30, No.12, p.608-613. Illus. 24 ref.
Resumen Unusual features observed in 5 cases of dichlofenthion poisoning (suicidal ingestion) were: delayed or mild onset of symptoms, followed by a deceptively mild latent phase, and the occurrence of severe and life-threatening cholinergic crises after 40-48h, progressing to a protracted period of variable cholinergic symptoms persisting for 5-48 days. Detailed case-reports are given. Insecticide residues were detected in fat after 54 days and in the blood after 75 days. Dichlofenthion was shown to have a partition coefficient of 137,000 (20 times that of parathion), and slow release of the compound from adipose reservoirs is suggested in explanation of the protracted clinical course.
