Translation of: Sichere elektrische Anlagen. Sicherheitsingenieur, Heidelberg, Germany (Fed.Rep.), 10 Sep. 1971, Vol.2, No.9, p.32-39. Illus. After stressing the need for all factors affecting safety to be taken into account during the planning and design of electrical installations, the author reviews the various hazards of electrical accidents (contact voltages, live components, arcing) and considers appropriate protective measures. He then deals in turn with each of the 5 fundamental safety rules (use of all-pole switches, protection against premature re-connection, checking that equipment is dead, earthing and short-circuiting protection, enclosure of certain live parts in the immediate proximity of the operator). |
