| Resumen |
A survey of insulating rods used to operate isolating switches on electric lines or in transformer stations. When certain conditions prevail, a film of condensation water may form on these rods; atmospheric pollution may also result in the formation of a film of soot or various types of dust; near the sea coast, a film of salt may be deposited. These various deposits act as conductors to a greater or lesser degree and may be hazardous for persons manipulating the rods. The article recommends earthing the rods, the author having ascertained by rigorous tests the efficacy of this procedure in the laboratories of the Italian National Accident Prevention Institute (ENPI). Detailed results of his findings are given. |
