Título Working to eat: Vulnerability, food insecurity, and obesity among migrant and seasonal farmworker families
Información bibliográfica 2010, Vol.53, p.443-462. Illus. 77 ref.
Resumen In this study on the relationship between food insecurity and obesity among migrant and seasonal farm workers (MSFWs), 36 Latin American MSFW families in North Carolina completed interviews, attended focus groups and were visited at home. It was found that 63.8% of the families were food insecure and of those, 34.7% experienced hunger; 32% of pre-school children were food insecure. Food secure families spent more money on food. Obesity was prevalent in adults and children but the relationship to food insecurity remains unclear.
