Título Driving with a congestion assistant: Mental workload and acceptance
Información bibliográfica Nov. 2009, Vol.40, No.6, p.1019-1025. Illus. 22 ref.
Resumen In dense traffic conditions, drivers may be helped by a congestion assistant (CA), a system that includes an acoustic warning and accelerator pedal counterforce, together with automatic acceleration and braking. The objective of this study was to evaluate the mental load and the acceptance of driving with CA systems in a driving simulator. Data were obtained by means of questionnaires and continuous heart rate measurements. It is concluded that driving with the CA in dense traffic potentially leads to decreased driver mental workload. Acceptance is generally high after experiencing the system, though not in all respects. Other findings are discussed.
