Resumen Little is known about the relative importance of inadvertent ingestion of hazardous substances from work activities. This report reviews the relevant scientific literature to help understand whether inadvertent ingestion is an important route of exposure and if yes for which agents. In a first phase of the study, a conceptual model was proposed, taking into account the processes involved in this type of exposure and the possible exposure metrics to be used in occupational settings. A second phase investigated the mechanisms involved based on laboratory experiments, which enabled a refining of the model.
