Abstract Between 1990 and 1997, there were approximately 6000 fatal occupational accidents in France, of which close to 2000 were road accidents involving employees in the course of their work. This article focuses on the road accidents, and contains a number of tables showing accident occurrences by type of vehicle, industrial sector, age of victims, size of company and employee level of responsibility. A typological classification occupational fatal road accidents in nine classes is proposed.
