| Abstract |
Thiourea has no clear mutagenic activity in bacterial systems. Genotoxic tests have given contradictory results and the tumorigenic effect of thiourea on the thyroid gland may represent an epigenetic effect. Research is currently underway on the question as to whether thiourea is metabolically activated in the rat thyroid gland to give a genotoxic metabolite. |
