Abstract This study evaluates following four approaches that enable the quantification of the impact of occupational safety and health investments on the financial performance of enterprises in Germany: analysis of the cause-and-effect chain of events of occupational safety and health measures as contributors to the financial performance of the enterprise; differential analysis of combined measures; integration of financial performance-based occupational safety and health measures within the framework of enterprise management, using the example of the "balanced score card"; integration of financial performance-based occupational safety and health measures in investment projects. Results of this analysis highlight the usefulness of occupational safety and health measures based on the financial performance of the enterprise.
