Abstract |
The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER, see CIS 00-76) introduced new requirements, in particular that all lifts provided for use in work activities be thoroughly examined by a competent person at regular intervals. This booklet is aimed at owners of lifts or persons responsible for their safe equipment such as facilities managers or supervisors, and explains what needs to be done to comply with the law. Contents include: meaning of "thorough examination" under the regulations; role of "duty holders"; what the thorough examination entails (examination schemes, notification of defects and corrective actions, documentation, record-keeping). |
