Abstract This monograph presents the views and expert opinions of an IARC working group which met in Lyon, France, 26 May-2 June 1999 on cancer risks from X-radiation, γ-radiation and neutrons. All three are classified in group 1 (carcinogenic to humans). For each form of radiation, the following aspects are covered: exposure data; studies of cancer in humans; studies of cancer in experimental animals; other data relevant to an evaluation of carcinogenicity and its mechanisms; summary of reported data and evaluation.
