Abstract Vibrating tables used for the compacting of concrete represent a frequently-encountered source of noise in companies involved in the manufacture of prefabricated concrete elements. The use of a damping material in such a vibratory system may allow the attenuation of the noise intensity, thereby reducing the exposure of workers to noise. This article describes the use of a noise damping coating material (nitrile rubber) applied to the surface of metallic supports fixed onto the vibrating table, which enabled the reduction of workers' exposure to 91dB instead of 100dB without the coating.
