Abstract This guide contains case studies from a cross-section of chemical companies where safety and health management systems were developed and implemented with the active participation of employees and their representatives. The case studies have been selected to highlight the benefits of improved partnerships, to describe how effective workforce involvement can be achieved and illustrate how such involvement is an integral part of good safety and health management systems. Appendices include a summary of the legal requirements and a questionnaire for assessing the current degree of workforce involvement in safety and health matters.
