Abstract This guide is the English version of a document whose French-language version has already been analysed (see CIS 99-762). It is aimed at workers, supervisors, teachers, principals, school board officials and safety and health committee members in schools and other educational establishments. Its objective is to enable persons working in schools and other educational establishments to recognize workplace hazards, prevent accidents and injuries by safe work practices and use of personal protective equipment, deal with accidents and emergencies and understand their duties and rights under occupational safety and health legislation. A list of addresses of government departments in Canada that can be contacted for additional information is also included.
