Abstract In Germany, occupational accident insurance institutions are responsible for all functions relating to occupational accidents and diseases, including prevention, medical and occupational rehabilitation and the provision of monetary benefits to insured persons and dependents. Prevention is encouraged by offering financial incentives. Contributions are paid solely by employers. The various methods for calculating the contributions are described, based on the sector of activity, the risk categories, the effectiveness of prevention measures and actual insured events occurring in the company.
