Title Elevation of zinc protoporphyrin levels in lead workers with iron-sufficient microcytosis
Bibliographic information May 1998, Vol.40, No.5, p.492-496. Illus. 6 ref.
Abstract Results of a study of two groups of lead-exposed subjects with either normal or low mean blood cell volume showed a significant difference in zinc protoporphyrin (ZPP) levels between the groups. There was no difference in age, lead levels or iron levels between the groups. Abnormally high ZPP levels may occur in individuals with haemoglobinopathies. Topics: blood-cell anomalies; lead; determination in blood; exposure tests; lead and compounds; protoporphyrin; statistical evaluation.
Descriptors (primary) protoporphyrin; exposure tests; lead and compounds
Descriptors (secondary) iron; lead; determination in blood; statistical evaluation; blood-cell anomalies
