Abstract This report presents the findings of a study to investigate the range of subsea cutting techniques suitable for removing offshore structures. Details of performance, limitations, and safety and reliability characteristics are provided along with recommendations concerning the most suitable techniques for a range of platform removal methods. The most effective methods include explosive cutting, abrasive water jet cutting, mechanical casing cutters, ultrathermic electrode cutting and pyromechanisms.
