Title Occupational asthma due to a widely used soft solder flux not containing colophony
Bibliographic information 1997, Vol.10, p.238-240. Illus. 6 ref.
Abstract A case is reported of a woman employed as a gas appliance servicing engineer who presented with symptoms of occupational asthma. The causative agent was thought to be a noncolophony soft solder flux (TELUX®), the precise composition of which was unknown. Specific inhalation challenge tests demonstrated both late asthmatic reactions and short-lived increases in airway responsiveness. The causative agent within the solder flux may be in the zinc or mineral oil components.
