Abstract Negative correlations have been found between patients' self-evaluation and their cardiovascular reactions. In a recent study, ischaemic patients with a low level of neuroticism and a high state of psychophysical well-being in the presurgical phase showed higher risks of post-surgical clinical complications than those who rated themselves less favorably. Data highlight the need for systematic psychological evaluations to determine the individual's propensity for underestimating emotional distress. Summary in English.
