||Main conclusions of this criteria document: glutaraldehyde is a skin irritant at concentrations of 2-10%; animal studies indicate that the substance would cause severe eye irritation in humans; there are reports of upper respiratory tract irritation; glutaraldehyde is a skin sensitizer in humans; concentrations as low as 0.13% have induced allergic contact dermatitis; there is evidence that the substance has the potential to cause asthma.
