Title Occupational skin ulceration in chrome platers
Bibliographic information July 1997, Vol.47, No.5, p.309-310. 4 ref.
Abstract This short report describes the occurrence of chrome ulcer observed on the hands of 13 chrome platers. Contact of hexavalent chrome with the skin only results in a ulcer if there is a cut or abrasion on the skin; a permanent scar is produced. Platers should be informed of the importance of avoiding cuts and of covering any cuts that do occur with waterproof dressings. Personal protective equipment should be used to prevent contact with chromic acid.
