||This monograph represents the views and expert opinions of an IARC Working Group which met in Lyon, France, 15-22 October 1996. Overall evaluation: crystalline silica inhaled in the form of quartz or cristobalite from occupational sources is carcinogenic in humans; long palygorskite (attapulgite) fibres (>5Ám) are possibly carcinogenic in humans; amorphous silica, para-aramid fibrils, coal dust, short palygorskite (attapulgite) fibres (<5Ám), sepiolite, wollastonite, clinoptilote, phillipsite, mordenite, non-fibrous Japanese zeolite, and synthetic zeolites are not classifiable as to their carcinogenicity in humans.
