Title Mutagenicity of 2-bromopropane
Bibliographic information Jan. 1997, Vol.35, No.1, p.87-95. Illus. 30 ref.
Abstract 2-bromopropane, a substitute for freon, is suspected to be responsible for an outbreak of reproductive dysfunctions among workers in an electronics factory. Bacterial mutation assays, chromosome aberration analysis in vitro and micronucleus tests in vivo were carried out to clarify the mutagenicity of 2-bromopropane. Results from reverse mutation assays using Salmonella typhimurium were positive and showed a dose-response relationship. The chromosome aberration tests and the micronucleus tests showed negative results.
