Abstract These Regulations (entry into force 1 Mar. 1996) implement Directive 94/9/EC (see CIS 95-27) concerning equipment and protective systems intended for use in potentially explosive atmospheres (the ATEX Directive). Contents: general duty relating to the placing on the market of equipment, protective systems or devices; conformity assessment procedures; notified bodies; enforcement. Schedules include: CE marking and other inscriptions; safety and health requirements relating to the design and construction of this equipment; classification of equipment-groups into categories; excluded equipment; EC-type examination; quality assurance; product verification; conformity to type; internal control of production; unit verification; content of the EC declaration of conformity.
