Title Health standards for internationally recruited seafarers

Abstract Based on the findings of a 1994 questionnaire survey, the International Labour Office (ILO) and the World Health Organization (WHO) prepared draft guidelines for conducting medical examinations for seafarers. The guidelines cover: medical examiners and the frequency of examinations; scope of examinations; assessment and health certificate; minimum health and fitness standards. The guidelines may be generally adopted and used in the future.
