Title Exposure to total and respirable minerals in an abrasive manufacturing facility
Bibliographic information Aug. 1996, Vol.57, No.8, p.753-755. 13 ref.
Abstract Area and personal air sampling was carried out at a plant manufacturing abrasive materials. Samples were analyzed using neutron activation analysis and atomic absorption spectrometry. Concentrations of total and respirable dust were higher than their respective threshold limit values (TLVs). Of the individual elements present in the dust, only silicon exceeded the TLV. Other elements included aluminium, chromium, iron, magnesium, calcium, bromine, manganese, zinc, lead, nickel and vanadium. Use of respirators is recommended.
