Abstract The effect of exposure to noise with sound pressure level of 80dB and frequency 4kHz alone and in combination with 20 minutes of physical exercise at 40% VO2 max on the systolic and diastolic blood pressure and on the hearing sensitivity of 12 healthy male volunteers was studied. A loudness scaling hearing test was used to measure the changes in hearing sensitivity. The combined exposure to noise and physical exercise significantly changed the systolic blood pressure by 5mmHg. It increased the diastolic pressure by 3.5mmHg. Hearing sensitivity decreased more than by noise or physical exercise alone. The decrease in hearing sensitivity after the combined exposure lasted more than 240 seconds.
