Abstract It is estimated that up to 4% of workers in Ireland may suffer from a form of persistent bullying to a degree likely to cause fear, anxiety, stress or depression. Physical and non-physical forms of bullying are described and psychological effects are outlined. Employers' responsibilities include development of a policy and action plan, and providing appropriate training to alert staff to the problem.
