Abstract Methods recommended in Canada for the selection of sampling stations for eco-toxicological studies are described together with those for the collection, storage, transportation and manipulation of whole sediment samples from marine, estuarine and freshwater environments. Procedures are outlined for monitoring and assessment purposes and for permit requirements for open-water disposal of dredged materials. This publication is also available in French.
