Abstract Conclusions of this criteria document: acetaldehyde is mildly irritating to the eyes and upper respiratory tract. Cutaneous erythema has been observed in patch testing. Data from animal studies and human subjects suggest that acetaldehyde may be implicated in alcohol-associated liver damage, facial flushing and developmental effects. Summaries in French and Spanish.
