Abstract Conclusions of this criteria document, translation of a report finalized in October 1994: ingestion of 1,2-dichloropropane (propylene dichloride) by humans causes functional hepatic and renal disorders, haemolytic anaemia, metabolic acidosis, heart muscle weakness and shock; ingestion of large amounts can be fatal. Dermal contact can cause allergic contact dermatitis. Based on animal studies, the substance is classified as having carcinogenic potential.
