Title Noise control strategies for occupational safety and better working environments
Bibliographic information 1995, Vol.1, No.4, p.311-329. Illus. 31 ref.
Abstract Permissible noise level limits and hearing damage risk criteria are reviewed along with acceptable noise levels for the workplace and noise control techniques. Engineering noise control methods include use of enclosures, barriers and partitions, sound absorption, vibration control, vibration damping, and hearing protection. An occupational noise control programme is outlined based on identification of areas with high noise levels, information of exposed workers, implementation of control measures, and provision of hearing protection.
